This objective of this blog entry is to raise awareness amongst the Filipino community and around the world about Cottolengo Filipino Orphanage to raise funds for the children’s education, basic necessities, medical needs and the like.

Cottolengo Filipino Orphanage is a non-stock, non-profit religious and non-government organization licensed and accredited by the DSWD and is owned and managed by the Sons of Divine Providence Congregation. Their mission is to give special children a home to live and the possibility to be rehabilitated. Today, 40 mentally and physically disabled orphans are under their care and supervision. Cottolengo Filipino is also supporting 45 other poor disabled children living in the nearby community.

AS&A Development Corporation would want to take this opportunity to share our poignant visit to the well-maintained community of Cottolengo Filipino.  Just as we stepped down the car, a boy comes up to us and greets us “Merry Christmas po Ma`am and Sir, Salamatpo sa pagbibista niyo” (Merry Christmas, thank you for visiting us) the boy’s smile was indelible in our heads. It made us realize how such simple manifestation can bring so much happiness to someone. Right after we dropped the food and drinks we prepared for the children and the staff in Cottolengo Filipino, a lady named Joan, who is primarily in charge of the children, approaches us and introduces herself. Joan spent about 20minutes solely for us to guide and tour us around the place where we met all of the other children. We were all very impressed by how clean the place is, how colorful and vibrant the walls of their rooms are, and lastly, how happy and excited the children were to see us. What we admire most about Cottolengo Filipino Community is that apart from it being well-maintained, it gives a very home-y feeling and vibe, which the children ultimately need – a home.
